A Christmas Celebration with Children and Veterans in Kanombe
On December 20th, 2024, Family Focus Rwanda hosted a joyful Christmas and end-of-year celebration at the Demob’s Hall in Kanombe, Kigali. The event brought together nearly 100 children and members of the veteran (Demob) community many of whom are parents or guardians of children supported by Family Focus programs.It was a beautiful, sunny day filled with smiles, laughter, and a deep sense of community.
A Warm Welcome and a Day to Remember
From as early as 10:00 AM, families and children began to arrive, excited for the day ahead. The hall quickly came to life with music, decorations, and the sound of children playing. One of the most special moments was when Santa arrived, bringing joy and laughter as he handed out candies and gift bags to the children. The room lit up with excitement as each child received their package. Later, a shared cake-cutting moment brought everyone together — a symbol of unity and celebration.
Inspiring Words and Real Stories
Our Founder, and CEO Mrs. Jane Umuganwa Karagire, gave the keynote speech. She spoke about the importance of standing together as a community, supporting one another, and creating opportunities for children to grow and thrive.
Several parents and members of the veterans’ group also shared personal testimonies. They spoke with emotion about how Family Focus has supported them — especially through access to education and care for their children. These stories reminded everyone why this work matters.
A Message of Faith and Encouragement
A guest preacher shared a short but powerful message from the Gospel, encouraging everyone to reflect on the year and step into the new one with faith, gratitude, and hope. The message resonated with many, especially those who have faced difficult times.
Ending the Year with Gratitude
By 2:00 PM, the event came to a close. Children left with gift bags in their hands and smiles on their faces. Parents and guardians expressed gratitude, not just for the event, but for the ongoing support they receive through Family Focus programs.
This celebration was more than just a party. It was a reminder that together, we can bring light and love into people’s lives one child, one family, one act of kindness at a time.
